What this covers
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. Browsers can also keep small amounts of data for a site in local and session storage, and the law treats those the same way. This page lists everything 53° saves in your browser and why.
We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't share what we store with advertisers.
Essential cookies
The app can't work without these, so the law doesn't ask us to get your consent for them. They're only set once you start signing in. On the live app their names begin with __Secure-.
| Name | What it's for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in. | 7 days, renewed while you use the app |
| better-auth.convex_jwt | A short-lived token that lets a page load your data. | Replaced every few minutes |
| better-auth.two_factor | Carries you from your password to the sign-in code step. | A few minutes |
| better-auth.trust_device | Remembers a device you've trusted, so it skips the code step. | 60 days |
| Sign-in state cookies | Protect signing in with Google or LinkedIn, and connecting an integration, against forged requests. | A few minutes |
| sidebar_state | Remembers whether you left the sidebar open or closed. | 7 days |
Preferences on your device
These are kept in your browser's local or session storage. They stay on your device and aren't sent to us with each request.
| Name | What it's for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| theme | Your choice of light or dark. | Until you clear it |
| layout-preferences | How you've arranged the dashboard. | Until you clear it |
| List and panel settings | The view, sort and filters you last used on a list, your recent searches, and which panels you've collapsed or hidden. | Until you clear it |
| Your cookie choice | Whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we don't ask again. | Until you clear it |
| 53d:first-touch | The site you came from, any campaign tags in the link and the first page you opened, saved with your account if you sign up. | Until you close the tab |
Analytics cookies
We use PostHog to see how the app is used and to replay sessions when something goes wrong. These are only set if you accept.
| Name | What it's for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| ph_…_posthog | Recognises your browser between visits and, once you sign in, links what you do to your account. | 1 year |
| PostHog session storage | Holds the current visit together, for session replay. | Until you close the tab |
- Until you choose, and if you decline, PostHog runs without cookies. It counts visits anonymously, stores nothing on your device and can't tell who you are.
- If you accept, we record the pages you open and what you click, link them to your account when you're signed in, and can replay your session.
- Replays never show what you type.
- Our PostHog data is stored in the European Union.
Your choice
You can change your mind at any time, here or under Preferences in your profile settings.
You haven't chosen yet, so analytics cookies are off.
Your browser can also block or delete cookies and site storage. Blocking the essential ones will stop you signing in.
Other companies' cookies
Some parts of the app are run by other companies, who may set their own cookies when you use them:
- Stripe, when you enter or change payment details on its pages. It uses cookies to prevent fraud.
- Google, when you sign in with Google or pick a file from Google Drive.
- LinkedIn, when you sign in with LinkedIn.
- Productlane, which runs the help panel inside the app.
Each company's own cookie policy covers what it sets.
