On why good is never quite good enough, and the restless pursuit of something more.
There's a particular kind of dissatisfaction that comes with doing something well. It's not failure...far from it. It's the quiet, persistent feeling that even your best work is just the starting point for what comes next. That feeling has been driving us lately, and honestly, we're grateful for it.
Our experiences are excellent (we know that). But excellence has a shelf life if you're not careful. So when last season wound down, we asked ourselves a harder question than "did that go well?" We asked: how far could we actually go?
Some of the best ideas aren't yours...they're the ones handed to you that you fall completely in love with. Swinton Saboteurs was one of those. The concept came from the marketing team at Swinton, but the challenge of building it? That was ours to own.
We had secret turrets. We had incredible round table settings. We had some of the most engaging activities in our arsenal. The task was to weave them together under one immersive, perfectly chosen theme AND make that theme feel inevitable, like it couldn't have been anything else.
It consumed about seven days of my life. Seven days of obsessing over every detail, every transition, every moment where a guest might step out of the story if we got something wrong. And then we ran it for the first time.
When I was thirteen, sitting across from a careers officer who asked what I wanted to do with my life, "walking around a historic hotel in a cloak" wasn't among my answers. Some destinations you only find by going further than the map suggests.
We knew, the moment we saw it in action, that we'd hit a new level. Swinton Saboteurs is now in full swing, the bookings are building, and the energy around it is exactly what we'd hoped for.
We've delivered well over a thousand team building days. We're proud of that. But pride and complacency are close neighbours, and we were determined not to let one drift into the other.
So we evolved. Partnering with our incredible learning and high performance coach James, we launched a proper Team Development programme — one built around real outcomes, not just great memories. Days designed to replicate the pressures of the workplace, to hold a mirror up to how teams actually communicate, decide, and deliver under pressure.
We have the facilities. We have the engagement. Now we're focused on something more meaningful: return on investment. Because a more connected, more accountable team doesn't just feel better — it performs better, and that goes straight to the bottom line.
I had the privilege of leading one of these days just last week, for a client who first joined us only a year ago. The stakes felt high — they were used to high-energy, full-on experiences, and our programme would deliver that, but with an added layer of intention.
Teams were given a goal and a choice: go for high-risk, high-reward tasks, or build momentum through volume. At key points throughout the day, we paused deliberately, to reflect, to review, and to hold up their performance against their own company values. We played the role of the client, asking the questions their stakeholders would ask.
The feedback compared to their previous visit was striking. The words that came back most? Value. Flexibility. Accountability. That felt like exactly the right kind of success.
One more thing — and this one genuinely fills us with pride.
Live For Today Adventures have officially partnered with Swinton Estate and their remarkable Nourish programme. 🌿
We've always cared deeply about the experiences we create. Now we're committing to caring just as deeply about the world we create them in. Through Nourish, we're working to make everything we do as sustainable and planet-conscious as possible — learning from what Swinton Estate is already doing so brilliantly.
And we don't want to stop there. We want to use this partnership as a springboard for future experiences that don't just excite and engage, but educate — helping our customers understand their own environmental impact and feel empowered to act on it. Because we believe great events and genuine responsibility aren't opposites. They belong together.
The lesson in all of this, if there is one, is simple: you can find a great product and sit on it. For a while, it works. But eventually, things stagnate — markets move, audiences evolve, and what felt fresh starts to feel familiar.
The answer isn't to chase novelty for its own sake. It's to keep asking the harder question. To adapt, evolve, and raise your own bar — deliberately, constantly, with intention.
In a world saturated with content and connection, we believe human experience matters more than ever. Real moments. Real places. Real impact.
That's what we're here to create.

The deal is done. The ink is dry. The announcement is out. And now — the real work begins. Looking back to the day we took over the climbing centre, it was a genuine shock to the system. The excitement of the deal quickly gave way to the reality of running something new, with new people, new problems, and a whole new set of pressures. If I were doing it again, I'd do a lot of things differently.

Most people love the idea of buying a business. Very few ever get close to actually doing it. Because the moment it becomes real with negotiating price, finding money, dealing with lawyers, taking over operations — it suddenly feels bigger, riskier, and far more complex than expected.
